My background...

I am from Tumkur, Karnataka. I am engineer by education. I completed a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communication in 2016 from Visvesvaraya Technological University. I then did a bachelor’s in education because I wanted to teach.

My experience as a teacher...

My pursuit of teaching as a profession is not by chance, it is by choice. I have always had passion for teaching. I tried different jobs initially but felt the strong urge to do something good for the society and work in a field that helps younger generation. I have been teaching for 10 years. Before joining Vidyakula, I taught at 2 other schools for 7 years. I have been teaching in Vidyakula for 3 years. I teach social sciences to students in grades 6 through 10.

I draw inspiration from...

I did my elementary schooling in a rural area. But I had excellent teachers. They motivated me and inculcated values and morals in me. I try to do the same using morality stories from different books and through the life stories of some of our great leaders that came from humble beginnings.

My approach to teaching…

Besides academic knowledge, children need to know how to survive in society. These days, students are in a rush to achieve success. But success takes a long time. They need to learn how to face failures and recover from them, overcome the challenges and find success.

My Aikyam experience...

Through Aikyam activities the students are learning how to look at problems analytically - explore different aspects of the problem before proposing solutions. They are learning to work together and work with a positive attitude. In my Aikyam team, I have several students that have gone through the Aikyam program before. I can see the difference in how they approach the activities when compared to the new students.
