My background…

I am a native of Sagar, Shimoga, Karnataka. I completed my bachelor’s in computer science. From a young age, I have always wanted to be a teacher. So, I pursued a bachelor’s in education, with a focus on science.

My experience as a teacher…

I started my teaching career at a state school followed by 1 year of teaching at a CBSE school and 7 years in another state school, all in Sagar, Karnataka. I have now been teaching at JPS for 4 years. I teach Physics to Grades 6 and 7. I also teach CSP – a course that focuses on computational thinking. At JPS, we emphasize activity-based learning which I am very interested in. When I was approached to become an Aikyam Club facilitator, I felt it was a good fit with my interests.

My inspiration…

When I was in primary section, I was studying in a Govt. school. I remember that all my teachers were very helpful and treated all the students with kindness. I try to do the same with my students.

My experience with Aikyam…

When I attended the Aikyam training it struck me that even children can contribute towards solving problems they face in their communities. I facilitate two batches of Aikyam Club. The children are very interested to dive into all the activities. They interact with each other, they freely share their feelings, thoughts, and ideas. We had to pause our Aikyam sessions due to scheduling conflicts and the children are anxious to restart.
