My background...

I have completed a diploma in computer science followed by a bachelor’s degree in computer applications. For the past 2 years, I have been working at Shri Sharada Public School teaching computer related skills to students from grades 1 through 9. We cover basic computer skills, programming, robotics and information technology. I conduct both classroom lectures and practical, hands-on labs.

My journey to teaching...

To be candid, it was happenstance that I became a teacher. A couple of my cousins are teachers, and they encouraged me to gain this experience. But now that I have been teaching for a couple of years, I find myself enjoying the experience. The respect I get from students and parents is very gratifying. Besides teaching, I have other goals for my career. I am preparing to qualify for a position with Indian Railways, which is run by the Central Government.

My Aikyam experience...

The Aikyam program has been a new experience for me. I am gaining new knowledge along with the children. Even as adults, we see things in our communities that we don’t like, but we don’t think about how we can impact positive change to fix that. The children are very happy and enthusiastic about opportunity given to them to contribute to the betterment of their communities. They are identifying real-world problems such as the secondhand effects of public smoking, health and wellness issues related to how trash is disposed etc.
